| Though Gujarat State provides an illustrative example in implementation of the scheme, many things are to be keep in mind for qualitative aspects and specifically the directions of the Hon. Supreme Court and budgetary requirements to comply it. The following points are relevant. |

Use of information and communication technology to strengthen the implementation of the scheme, as it would be easy to monitor the various aspects of the scheme viz. infrastructure facilities at the centres, no, of operational days, district wise / taluka wise/centre wise utilization and position of funds and food grains/oils etc; nos. of inspections carried out by the field officers and remedial measures taken thereupon. |

The State Govt. has initiated participation of NGO in MDM as a pilot project, in the Eastern part of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and three talukas of Valsad district and entrusted the work to " Stri Shakti" in June-2006. |

From June-07 the work of this scheme in the Western part of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Gandhinagar taluka has been given to the "Akshay Patra Foundation ". |
