A majority of them share the socio-economic deprivation of their parents, and do not have access to essential requirements of nutrition, health-care and learning opportunities. The founders of Indian Constitution were aware of this situation, the Indian Constitution, in Article 39, laid down that the State shall direct its policy in such a way that the health and strength of workers, men and the children of tender age are not abused and that citizens are not forced by economic necessity to enter avocations unsuited to their age or strength; That children are given opportunities and facilities to develop in a healthy manner in conditions of freedom and dignity and that childhood and youth are protected against exploitation and against moral and material abandonment. |
